World Through Frames is a new and growing photographic project, bringing together photographs of places, landscapes and wildlife from journeys both recent and long past.
The site began as a way of giving my photographs a home beyond hard drives, albums and boxes of old slides. It combines recent digital photography with an archive stretching back nearly forty years, from early days walking and climbing in the mountains to more recent travels across Europe, South America and Southeast Asia.
Photography is at the heart of the project. The words are there to add context — to tell something of the place, the journey or the circumstances behind the photographs, rather than to turn each destination into a comprehensive travel guide.
World Through Frames is still at an early stage. Much of the archive remains to be revisited, scanned and organised, while new journeys continue to add to it. Over time I hope the site will grow into a broader photographic record: not just of the places I travel to now, but of places photographed over a lifetime.
Some destinations will eventually contain substantial collections, while others may be represented by only a handful of photographs. Older images will sit alongside new ones, reflecting changes in places, photography and the way I have seen the world over the years.
There is no intention to complete it. World Through Frames is something that can continue to grow — one journey, one place and one photograph at a time.
