Cat Ba Island

Our second day in Lan Ha Bay took us by speedboat to Cat Ba Island, where we cycled through the forest to Viet Hai Village, stopped for a local lunch, and later raced back through the limestone islands by motorboat before returning to the cruise ship.
A Day on Cat Ba Island
Our second day started early with a Vovinam session on the sundeck, followed by breakfast as the boat continued through Lan Ha Bay. We then transferred to a smaller boat for the journey towards Cat Ba Island and Viet Hai Village.
From the landing point, we travelled inland through the forest, with the choice of cycling or taking an electric cart. We chose the bicycles and followed the road through the lush scenery of Cat Ba National Park to Viet Hai, a small village surrounded by steep, forested hills.
After spending some time exploring the village, we stopped for lunch before making our way back towards the coast. Rather than stopping for swimming, the afternoon included a fast motorboat trip through Lan Ha Bay, racing between the limestone islands and giving us a very different view of the landscape from the slower cruise ship.
Later in the afternoon we returned to the main cruise ship, where the pace slowed considerably. There was time for afternoon tea, drinks on the sundeck as the sun went down, and dinner before our final night on board.
